ABOUT THE CHALLENGE

From April 01 - May 31, we will be engaging communities while empowering survivors! We believe partnering with the surrounding communities (from medical providers to homemakers, lawyers, educators, and more!) to raise funds for HER freedom will also REDEFINE community for our residents. You will identify your community, create or join a team as your fundraising platform, and raise money in your unique ways.

We want to see communities and niches represented as we work together (in some friendly competition!) to support survivors. Fundraise through a social media campaign, challenge another organization in your community, host a basketball tournament in your neighborhood, have a bake sale, or wash cars.
Get creative with this!

Be sure to use the hashtag #HERCommunityCares when you post so we can follow you throughout this month and cheer you on.

  • There are many costs involved in sustaining homes and services for survivors. We are open 24/7, 365 days a year providing residential care, life skills, vocational training, personal growth mentorship, case advocacy and more. Doors to Freedom also connects survivors with essential therapy and medical care. While we currently have one fully operating home, we also are in the process of opening our second home and have plans for safe places throughout the state!

  • Simply put, individual groups work together to challenge other groups within their community. For example, a college challenging another college, or one homeschool group challenging another to match their donation! Which community do YOU think can raise the most to support survivors?

  • A Team Leader is someone who creates momentum in their community! Each Team Leader is responsible for an initial donation, and challenging another group in their community to match this donation. You are raising both funds and awareness.

  • Sometimes, it is easy to believe that someone else will address the problem. In all reality, we deeply need your support! We cannot continue opening and sustaining houses without an engaged community.

  • Join a team, or donate individually.

Don’t see your individual community represented? Become a Team Leader! Go to the HER Community Cares page, and select “Create Team.”

  • If you are collecting checks, have them made out to Doors to Freedom and mail them together by the 1st of July. Make sure you include your full name as you are registered on the campaign site (or your HER Community Cares team name, if applicable!) You can mail checks to the address below:
